Crafted
Tucked into Tower Grove East, Crafted is one of those neighborhood spots we forget about — and that’s a shame. It has that South City brick-walled charm, a solid cocktail menu, and a genuinely strong gluten-free happy hour situation.
This is a bar first — cocktails, martinis, beer, house wines — with elevated bar food. They run two happy hours: 4–6 PM and 8–10 PM
And here’s where gluten-free diners should pay attention.
The menu clearly states:
Everything breaded in-house is 100% gluten free and most items can be modified to gluten free.
*All items labeled “GF,” if fried, are fried in their own GF fryers.
Yes. Dedicated fryers.
That means you can order the fried things with confidence.
Happy Hour $5 bites (GF-friendly):
Fried cauliflower
Fried Brussels sprouts
Fry basket
Deviled eggs
Happy Hour $10 bites (GF-friendly options):
Burger (with GF bun option)
Wings
Chicken tenders
The standouts:
✨ Thai chili cauliflower
✨ Garlic parm wings
While this isn’t a place I find myself craving at random on a Tuesday - it’s inexpensive with a gluten-safe happy hour, so it absolutely works. It’s dependable. It’s affordable. It’s easy.
Drink-wise, $6 martinis during happy hour, discounted beer, $5 house wines — and their well vodka is Nü Vodka, which is gluten-free without needing to upcharge for Tito’s. My partner appreciates that detail.
They rotate specials — including Gluten-Free Fried Chicken Fridays (yes, really). There’s also a steak night (we’d skip the $10 steak — there are better places for that investment). Weekend brunch is on the table, though we haven’t tested it yet.
There are a few patio tables out front, but don’t depend on them being available.
Overall:
Dedicated fryer. Clearly labeled menu. Affordable cocktails. South City charm.
For gluten-free diners looking for a relaxed neighborhood happy hour in St. Louis — Crafted deserves to be back on your radar.
