We first discovered Takozz at Food Truck Friday in Tower Grove Park—one of those happy finds that instantly earns a spot in your mental “crave list.” Now they’ve landed a home as part of the restaurant co-op at The Hill Food Co, operating as take-out only, and honestly? It works.

If you haven’t ordered from The Hill Food Co yet, the system is unique and surprisingly efficient. You order online or at a kiosk, then receive a text when your food is ready with a locker number. Click the link, the locker pops open, and your food is waiting. Seamless. The trade-off is that it’s fully contactless—so there’s no opportunity to ask questions in the moment. Because of that, we stick to our usual favorites which are also conveniently marked as gluten free in the menu descriptions.

For us, that’s the street tacos, quesabirria tacos, and queso. The chips are a question mark due to shared fryer risk, so we usually grab the queso and enjoy it with our own chips at home—easy workaround, zero stress.

Let’s talk tacos. The birria lineup is extensive: traditional braised beef, potatoes, shrimp, chicken, steak, chorizo, or pork. Each taco is dipped in rich birria broth, lightly toasted with cheese, and served with a side of consommé and your salsa of choice - creamy avocado (mild), green salsa (medium) or red salsa (hot).

They’re indulgent and messy in the best way, and deeply satisfying. The queso is solid, but the tacos are the star—we genuinely crave these. They’re one of our favorite grab-and-go options in the city.

Bonus points: there’s almost always a coupon, and they run a rewards system, which makes repeat orders feel even better.

Comfort food. Low friction. High reward. Takozz stays in our regular rotation for a reason.
